TENNIS : U.S. OPEN : Fernando Verdasco defeated David Ferer

Fernando Verdasco defeated 10th seed David Ferrer in the fourth round match of the U.S. Open and entered into the quarter final. The score was 5-7, 6-7(8), 6-3, 6-3, 7-6(4). The first two sets was won by David Ferrer and the remaining three sets was won by Verdasco. In the quarter finaL Verdasco's opponent is Rafel Nadal. At the end of the match Verdasco had hit 73 winners and Ferrer had hit 38. After the match Verdasco said that "I hope that it is going to give me big confidence, this match". "And also I hope to be 100 per cent physically after a tough match like today to play against a player like Nadal". In another match in the fourth round Rafel Nadal defeated 23 rd seed Feliciano Lopez in straight sets. Nadal won 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
Meanwhile 25 seed Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka defeated 20th seed U.S.A.'s Sam Querrey in an another marathon fourth round match. The score was 7-6(9), 6-7(5), 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. Querrey's defeat means that there will be no U.S. player in the men's singles quarter finals for the second year in a row. Querrey said : "Just a couple of points here and there. It was like every set was like that . Just really a couple of points in every set that made the difference". The 20th seeded Wawrinka joins Roger Federer in the last eight. It is in the first time two Swiss players have reached the quarter finals of a Grand Slam in the Open era. Wawrinka's opponent for a place in the semi finals will be 12th seeded Russian Mikhail Youzny, who defeated Tommy Robredo of Spain in four sets. 2nd seeded Kim Clijsters defeated 5th seeded Samantha Stosur by 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. "I didn't play a good match but I was able to win it", Clijsters said. "Even after the match I was like, 'How did I win this?' Next match everything will have to be a lot better". Clijsters said. U.S. third seed Venus Williams, a seven time Grand Slam champion who has not won a US Open, defeated Sixth seeded Francesca Schiavone of Italy by 7-6(5), 6-4. After the match, Venus Williams said "I was trying to find a rhythm in the wind to get on top of it" . She added "It was challenging. I don't think either of us were able to play our exact normal game. When the stakes were higher I was able to raise my game".

TENNIS : U.S. Open : Andy Murray defeated by Stanislas Wawrinka

Fourth seeded Andy Murray was defeated by Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka by 6-7(3), 7-6(4), 6-3, 6-3 in the U.S. Open. Meanwhile Rafel Nadal defeated France's Gilles Simon by 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. Mr. Nadal has yet to loss a set in three matches. “I am in the fourth round. That's good news for me – without losing a set – but there remains a lot to do. I am happy where I am, but it's only fourth round”, Rafel Nadal said. In another match U.S. Sam Querrey defeated Nicolas Almagro of Spain by 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 and Russia's Mikhail Youzhny defeated American John Isner by 6-4, 6-7(7), 7-6(5), 6-4. On the women's side, Australian fifth seed Samantha Stosur ousted Russian 12th seed Elena Dementieva by 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(2). She will be play against Kim Clijsters in the quarter finals. In the women's singles, Venus Williams (USA) defeated Israeli 16th seed Shahar Peer by 7-6(3), 6-3. 5th seed Samantha Stosur (Australia) beat 12th seed Elena Dementieva (Russia) by 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(2). 6th seed Francesca Schiavone (Itali) beat 20th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (Russia) b y 6-3, 6-0.
In the mens doubles, Sixteenth seed Rohan Bopanna and Aisam Qureshi won their match against second seeds Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic by 6-3, 6-4 in the third round. Bopanna and Qureshi will next meet Wesley Moodie and Dick Norman. “They are formidable opponents, but they have had a relatively easier draw. The draws have been tougher on us so we are ready, prepared and focused on the task on hand”, said Bopanna. In mixed doubles, Leander Paes and Cara Black defeated Kaja Kanepi and Robert Lindstedt by 6-1, 6-4. Leander Paes and Cara Black will next meet Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Mark Knowles.

TENNIS : Janko Tipsarevic defeated Andy Roddick

Serbia's 44th ranked Janko Tipsarevic defeated Ninth seeded Andy Roddick in the second round match of the U.S. Open Championship on Wednesday 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6(4). Andy Roddick, who won the US Open in 2003. Andy Roddick's worse Flushing Meadows defeat was in 2005, that time he goes out in the first round. Tipsarevic smacked 66 winners, hit 59 per cent of his first serves and won 81 per cent of his first serve points to send off Roddick, who told the Serbian not to lose his next match . “He said, 'if you lose early I'm going to freaking kill you”, Tipsarevic said. “He played great”, Roddick said “I told him, “Too good”.

TENNIS : Jankovic, Kuznetsova entered into second round

Jelena Jankovic, the women's fourth seed survived a terrific play from unseeded simona Halep and entered into the second round of the U.S. Open on Tuesday. In another match 11th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated veteran Kimiko Date Krumm and entered into the second round. The score was 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. The Indian hope was finished when Somdev Devvarman was defeated by South African Kevin Anderson by 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. World No. 2 Roger Federer, looking for his 17th Grand Slam title and seventh consecutive trip to the US open final, defeated Argentina's 96th ranked Brian Dabul 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in a match that will be remembered for ever. “I have only hit a few in my life”, Federer told the crowd that gave him a standing demonstration of popular applause. “To do it twice at the U.S. Open centre court....it's amazing to share this moment with you guys. Thanks for the ovation. I love it”. Federer said “I thought I was a bit late”. “I had to give it one last push to get there and then I thought I think I can do this once again”. Swedish fifth seed Soderling defeated 214th ranked Austrian qualifier Andreas Haider Maurer 7-5, 6-3, 6-7(2), 5-7, 6-4 after three hours and 52 minutes. Soderling, who beat Roger Federer in the quarter finals at Roland Garros earlier. Ninth seed Andy Roddick, who beat France's Stephane Robert 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. Haider Maurer, a 23- year old who fired 34 aces. “It was a tough match in tough conditions”, Soderling said. “It 's better to win it in five than lose it in five”.
Soderling fell behind 4-1 but won six of the last seven games in the first set and seized a 4-1 edge en route to taking the second set as well. Haider Maurer said “Definitely I had a strong chance”. Solderling said that “I feel pretty good physically I had almost four good hours of practice . That wasn't so bad”. “I can play better. I”ve played worse”. In the second round Soderling will meet America's Taylor Dent, who defeated Colombia's Alejandro Falla 6-4, 7-5, 6-1. Soderling said that “I think I've showed that I can go very deep in every Grand Slam”, “But you've to play well. I can't just go on court and not fight and not play well. Then you will lose”. France's 109th ranked Paul Henri Mathieu defeated Australia's Lleyton Hewitt 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 4-6, 6-1.

TENNIS : Davydenko beat Russel
NEW YORK :
Russian sixth seed Nikolay Davydenko defeated America's 80th ranked Michael Russell and goes to the second round of the U.S. Open on Monday 6-4, 6-1, 6-3. Davydenko, whose best U.S. Open came in 2006 and 2007 when he lost to current champion Roger Federer in the semi finals. He will next meet Frenchman Richard Gasquet, who defeated Germany's Simon Greul 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Japanese champion Kei Nishikori also goes to the second round when Kazak rival Evgeny Korolev retired. At that time Nishikori was leading 7-6(0), 5-2. Earlier Nishikori reached the fourth round at the U.S. Open in 2008. Defending champion Kim Clijsters beat Greta Arn of Hungary 6-0, 7-5. The second seed Belgian will play the winner of the match between Australia's Sally Peers and Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada for a place in the third round.
Elena Dementieva, two time finalist made a victorious come back to the Grand Slam tennis beating Olga Govortsova of Balarus 6-1, 6-2 in the first round. She was the runner up at U.S. Open and French Open in 2004. Also she was won a gold medal in Singles Final at the 2008 Beijing Olimpics. Dementieva hit four aces and six double faults against Govortsova and won all eight of her service games. French Open champion Francesca Schiavone of Italy defeated Ayumi Morita of Japan and entered into the second round 6-1, 6-0.
