Entry in to catering profession will take time, as there
are so many skills that are needed to learn.
In the catering industry there are many different jobs
available and at different levels, therefore, different
qualifications are needed.
If one is interested in management in catering then he
will require a diploma in Catering management or
equivalent as well as the appropriate Food Hygiene
certificates along with relevant management experience.
If one is interested in becoming a chef or working in
any area of the kitchen then he will also require the
relevant qualifications in Food preparation or
equivalent. Although, there are different kinds of
Chefs, so additional qualifications or experience would
be needed for the purpose.
In order to gain these qualifications one should look at
some college or university prospectuses to see what
catering courses are on offer and what would suit his
needs.
